The 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring is doing its best to Tiptoe around the fundamental physics. This compact (in name only) hatchback managed to achieve 26 mpg combined while providing as much cargo space as the Hyundai Tucson compact SUV. Plus, it is based on the Elantra sedan, the best choice in the compact class.

Hyundai Elantra Touring is a four-door hatchback available in a plate. Standard equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels, Foglight, air-conditioning, full power accessories, heated mirrors, cruise control, tilt and the telescopic steering column, a course manual of eight driver’s seat A 60/40-split rear seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and six-speaker stereo with CD/MP3 player, auxiliary audio jack, a USB / Audio Interface iPod and satellite radio.
The 2009 Elantra Touring is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 138 horsepower and 137 lb.-ft. of torque. A five-speed manual is standard, and a four-speed automatic is optional. Fuel economy with the automatic is estimated at 23 mpg city/30 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined. The manual gives you 1 extra mpg on the highway.
It is fully stocked with anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, traction and stability control, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and front seat active head restraints. However, tourism does not share the spacious saloon passengers. Rear-seat passengers will find a number of head, shoulders, hips and legs in the back, while the front seat is very roomy for larger drivers.
